Breastival is excited to announce the launch of our new initiative, Baby Grow, during our very exciting programme of events this year.
Baby Grow is a Virtual Community Centre, welcoming all families to access support and information around pregnancy, birth and beyond. Funded via the Community Innovators fund, through the Community Foundation, Breastival has been able to employ a member of staff to coordinate the project, bringing together support providers from all over the region and organsing social events including a parenting book club and support groups.
Baby Grow Coordinator Catherine Muldoon said,
“ Joining the Breastival team is an absolute privilege. Leading a truly innovative and societally important project like Bay Grow means I have been able to work with the incredible Board and volunteers to begin the transition of this essential yearly festival for parents in Northern Ireland and beyond, into year round support and an interactive community. The work that we are doing to normalise and support breastfeeding and support all parents is truly transformative. “
The Baby Grow project will be launched by Communities Minister Deirdre Hargey, on the first day of this year’s Breastival via Zoom and Facebook Live.
Minister Hargey said: “The Baby Grow project is supported by my Department through partnership with Community Foundation and the development of the Community Innovators programme.
“The Community Innovators programme supports community and social enterprise organisations to develop solutions to social and economic challenges.
“I am proud of the work my Department does to support our local community infrastructure and have no doubt that the Baby Grow community will bring great support and comfort for families at a time when they need it most.”
